About the Late Bernard Cuff

In 1958, Bernard Cuff heard that stray dogs in his area were to be put down simply for having nowhere to go. He couldn't accept it. So he did something extraordinary he took them in himself. From that single act of compassion, Pine Ridge Dog Sanctuary was born.

For the rest of his life, Bernard gave these dogs everything he had. He spent his own pension and savings on food, medicine, and warm blankets. And as more frightened, abandoned dogs arrived, he opened up his own home to them his bedrooms, his bathrooms, even his kitchen became places of warmth and safety. No dog was ever turned away. No dog was ever just a number to him.

Bernard's love saved thousands of dogs, and it never asked for anything in return. Today that same love lives on in every dog we shelter, feed, and rehome. When you give to Pine Ridge, you carry his kindness forward and you make sure that no dog who needs us is ever turned away.
